Botox is a purified protein derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum, called botulinum toxin type A. Toxins target the nervous system and disrupt signaling processes that stimulate muscle contractions. It causes temporary muscle paralysis and reduces stiffness.

The majority of people find Botox treatments painless and have mild to no side effects. The full effects of a Botox injection usually take 3 - 7 days to appear on the wrinkles or lines that were treated. Depending on what you are treating, Botox lasts for three to twelve months.

If you would like more information about Botox, you may schedule a consultation here at Northeast Medical Practice. Providing our clients with safe, effective Botox injections is our goal.

Hooded eyelids can be treated with Botox injections. Treatment can correct a low eyebrow position or slight brow drooping causing the eyelids to hang lower than they should. Injecting a small amount of Botox into the outer end of the eyebrow can elevate it slightly. Botox not only raises the eyebrows slightly, but also lifts the upper eyelid, revealing a small amount of eyelid skin. Using Botox to treat hooded eyelids is a short-term solution.

The neurotoxin's effects will eventually wear off, and the eyebrow muscles will regain their strength. Botox injections usually last between two and three months.

Find out more about Botox treatment for hooded eyelids at Northeast Medical Practice. Get in touch with us today to schedule a consultation.

When Botox is injected into your body, tiny punctures appear where the Botox was injected. Even if you don't notice them, they can pose problems if you wear makeup after the procedure.

During the first four hours after the procedure, it is recommended that you do not apply makeup to your face to avoid infection or complications. Make sure you wait at least 30 minutes for the small injection punctures to close up if you need to wear makeup sooner than that.

Although you may feel tempted to cover some of the swelling with makeup, it's wise to let your skin rest. Feel free to ask your provider how long you should wait if you don't feel comfortable walking around barefaced. Make an appointment at Northeast Medical Practice if you would like to find out more about wearing makeup after Botox.

Before Botox injections, your provider will apply a local anesthetic or numbing cream to the treatment area to reduce discomfort. A small amount of Botox will then be injected into specific muscles by the provider. The muscles are relaxed as a result, which allows them to appear smoother and more refreshed.

After Botox has been injected, it takes some time to take effect. Some patients see results right away, especially if we are treating fine lines rather than deeper wrinkles. Most patients begin to notice less wrinkles within a couple of days, though it may take longer to reach maximum results.

Learn more about Botox and what happens during the treatment during a consultation here at Northeast Medical Practice.

For the treatment of dynamic facial wrinkles, Botox is one of the most popular injectables. By using this procedure, your provider can target fine lines and wrinkles on the forehead, between the eyebrows, and at the corners of the eyes. A naturally occurring neurotoxin found in Botox paralyzes overactive facial muscles, temporarily weakening them. Following treatment, patients' appearance is more relaxed, rested, and youthful.

You're the ideal candidate for Botox if:

- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You do not have any medical conditions that would prevent you from receiving treatment.
- You're not pregnant or nursing.
- You have realistic expectations about the results of Botox.
- You are aware of the possible risks associated with receiving treatment.
- You're ready to undergo regular treatments in order to maintain your desired appearance.

At Northeast Medical Practice, you can learn more about Botox. Get in touch with us today to schedule a consultation.

As you age, your skin loses elasticity and collagen production declines. Therefore, dynamic wrinkles around the mouth and nose will eventually become static wrinkles. Genetics, smoking, and poor nutrition can further accentuate fine lines and wrinkles.

Botox is widely used as a treatment for dynamic wrinkles, which are the wrinkles that form when you express emotions. These lines are caused by muscles in your face and neck that contract and relax over time, causing the skin to pull down and wrinkle.

By temporarily blocking muscle activity, Botox injections reduce wrinkles. Get to know more about Botox for dynamic wrinkles at Northeast Medical Practice.
